How to Create a Campaign
As some of you know we've been hired along with other educators to develop an educational program for kids and teens. The program covers Gardening/Sustainability, Social Activism and yes - Media Entrepreneurship.
The Media Entrepreneurship part of the program is being targeted at teens, young adults and others who are looking for a way to leverage their artistic and natural talents in a business way to create opportunities.
Getting a job in this day and age is harder than ever so it helps to know how to use entrepreneurship to "create a job." Learning "How to Create a Campaign" can help with this.
Essential Question: how are you going to use media to get more customers and clients?
Unit of Business:
The curriculum skills learned through creating a personal presentation project include:
1. Career/Business Planning;
used to determine goals while creating project.
2. Digital Filmmaking Arts;
employed to express central message while creating project.
3. Marketing /Presentation Methods;
developed as all the elements are put together while creating project.
Many budding artist entrepreneurs and business students have little to no knowledge of the above topics as they are actually used in the entertainment and other industries in tandem with Media Entrepreneurship.
Media entrepreneurship by artists consists of artistic creation with an entrepreneurial spirit to spawn ideas that make the world a little bit better.
The Artist as Entrepreneur program is for New York City-based visual and performing artists as well as creative individuals or students wishing to learn how to use their creativity and skills to create a business.
This program equips New York City’s artists and those who are artists at heart with the necessary business and management skills to successfully market their work as well as create ventures that harness artistic process and entrepreneurial strategies to develop income.
Business can be creative, too. Entrepreneurship is in itself an art, an outlet for self-expression and creative thinking. And you can embrace the tools of business to help yourself and other artists and entrepreneurs with collaborations. Because in the end; art and commerce depend on each other.
Additional learning materials include episodes of the online TV show Lights Camera Read’s “Celebrity Entrepreneurship” in which artist entrepreneurs reveal how to succeed in show business and any business. These materials are viewed online as well as offline via multimedia in conjunction with lectures and seminars at New York City libraries, universities and schools.
More on this program to come.
