The most important thing you can do for your creative career or small business is to create an audience.
You might well wonder, why have an audience in the first place? The short answer is that if you have an audience you have a bargaining position for just about anything you can imagine.
Perks of Having an Audience
Need a recording contract? If you have a big enough audience chances are you can get one. Want to be cast in a movie? Again, have a big enough audience? If yes, then you’ve got a shot over others. Desire to run a successful small business? Once more, audience, audience, audience.
Making a Difference in the Lives of Your Audience
At Entertainment Entrepreneurship we believe that it is important to not only be a solution provider to your audience but you should also be making a difference in their lives. Never forget that you are very lucky to have the audience that you do and should let your followers know that you appreciate them.
Additionally, we also believe that an artist or small business has the obligation to not just be selling their art, services or products but should make a difference in their community and/or the world at large.
How is this accomplished? One step at a time just like everything else. As you progress with your Entertainment Entrepreneurship promotional process and your creative career or business starts to have legs, be conscious of the things you can do with this momentum to help others.
Audience Definition
What is an audience? Our definition of an audience is a community of people who like and are interested in what you do. Maybe you offer some kind of a solution to their problem? Or maybe they just find you entertaining and compelling?
How to Find Your Audience
So in seeking an audience it is important to use reverse engineering to find them. In other words, start with what you do – say for example you do a newsletter on being an ArtisticPreneur – you therefore need to find people who like and are interested in becoming an ArtisticPreneur or already are one.
But regardless of which path you take to build your audience it is important to realize that creating an audience is something that is never ending.
